Analog Devices, a global high-performance analog technology company, has broken ground on its new global headquarters in Wilmington, Mass. Steven Baker is handling design of the property, while Lee Kennedy was tapped to handle construction. The project is scheduled for completion and move-in by 2020.
The company is slated to consolidate its Massachusetts operations in the new facility, closing its current Norwood location in the process. This move will bring together 2,000 employees and will create 50 new, full-time jobs across the next five years, as previously reported by Wilmington Patch.
“ADI is a global company with a long history in Wilmington, Mass. The company has grown and flourished at this location. Baker Design Group is thrilled to be working with ADI on this exciting transformation,” Stephen Baker, president of Baker Design Group, told Commercial Property Executive. “The goal for the design of ADI’s new world headquarters, is to create a world-class campus, that supports the amazing research and work of their innovative engineering and manufacturing teams, collaborating locally and globally, developing the technologies of tomorrow.”
Located at 804 Woburn St., the facility will include laboratories as well as design, cross-functional group and manufacturing collaboration space. The property will offer 147,000 square feet for research and development and a 50,000-square-foot Hub with a cafe, auditorium and fitness center.
“The buildings, office working environments, and research laboratories, will be LEED Certified, reflecting ADI’s values, commitment to the environment, their people, and their community,” added Baker. “The new headquarters will create an ideal Campus for their work and research, as well as a destination to see leading-edge design ideas, integrated with some of ADI’s own innovative technologies within the buildings.”
Construction is booming in metro Boston, with the employment sector recording a 5.6 percent year-over-year expansion, a recent Yardi Matrix report shows. Large developments in the pipeline include MIT’s Volpe Center—comprising 1.7 million square feet of commercial space and 1,400 housing unit— and the 4.5-acre Fenway Center project.
