According to media reports, Israel’s exports of computer chips to China surged last year as Chinese companies increased their purchases of Intel’s Kiryat Gat factory products.

According to officials from the Israel Export Association, the latest data shows that semiconductor exports to China last year increased by 80% to $2.6 billion. According to industry sources, Intel Israel accounts for at least 80% of the aforementioned semiconductor exports.

This is good news for the Israeli government, which is working to increase ties with China. According to the association, semiconductors accounted for $3.9 billion of total exports in 2018.

The two countries have begun to negotiate trade agreements, and technology is expected to become the focus of negotiations. According to statistics, Israel’s total exports of goods to China (excluding diamonds) increased by 50% to 4.7 billion.

Intel announced a $5 billion investment in 2017 to expand its capacity at the Kiryat Gat plant in southern Israel.
