When the earnings report was released recently, AMD CEO Dr. Su Zifeng said that in the fourth quarter of last year, its desktop PC processor and server share achieved continuous growth. Unfortunately, no specific data has been released.
The recent statistical agency Mercury Research has helped us with our doubts.
Excluding the IoT server market, AMD's latest share as of the end of last year was 3.2%, an increase of 1.5 percentage points from the previous month and a year-on-year increase of 2.4 percentage points, the highest since Q4 2014.
In the desktop x86 market, AMD's latest share was 15.8%, up 2.8 percentage points quarter-on-quarter and 3.5 percentage points year-on-year. It was also the highest after Q4 in 2014.
The notebook market, which has always been weak, has also reached a height of 12.1%, which is the best result in the past five years.
As Intel faces a 14nm shortage in the desktop market and affects the Pentium/Celeton shipments, the server market is slow to change the process, and the notebook market AMD has offered a cheaper product portfolio. AMD may further reduce its share with Intel. gap.
